The use of video systems for documentation of patient treatment, training, research and continuous improvements have been growing rapidly during this century. Since 2015 we have been in collaboration with the Norwegian Company POSICOM AS that has developed a unique and innovative multi-media system for the healthcare sector. Seekuence®Medical The system can capture and import video and voice from various sources (cameras, scopes, instruments and codecs) and can be integrated with other system (e.g EPR). The system can be offered in a variety of configurations as an enterprise system for hospitals or as a cloud-based service (SAAS). The system complies with strict requirements for data security and patient safety (GDPR) and it has a serviceoriented architecture that is based on open standards. Important sequences can easily be bookmarked (tagged), retrieved and reported, e.g in the Electronic Patient Records (EPR) in a very user friendly and intuitive set-up. The report part of the Seekuence system is to be tailored in accordance with the actual activity or purpose. The user can “tag & report on the fly”, and since all raw data are recorded you can do a more in-depth, detailed analysis at a later stage. An earlier version of the Seekuence®Medical has been tested at the endoscopic unit at the University Hospital Køge during the scope-training for five young doctors. This test revealed a great potential for use of this unique multimedia system to enhance the educational level for the young doctors and other trainees. For the Maritime Industry, Posicom provides a similar unique Video Management Solution, Seekuence®Inspection is based on the same principles and software as Seekuence®Medical. This video system is also possible to tailor for the different maritime and marine domains and purposes. The Fish Farming Market is a large and growing market for multimedia solutions and digital transformation. Operations like monitoring of fish, feeding (remote with cameras) net inspection and cleaning, are areas where the use of Seekuence®Inspection could be of great utility. Drones and ROVs are more often used as an inspection platform equipped with sensors and communication equipment. Seekuence®Inspection makes drones and ROV inspections more efficient, e.g by real time recording and bookmarking of inspection procedure or deviating observations. Trawl-Cameras as a catch monitoring system in the fishing industry, might be among the new areas, where the Seekuence®Inspection video solution could be of very great value to avoid catching the kind of fish that are not allowed according to the international regulations. Our latest activities…
During more than a decade, we have successfully performed the Country Coordinating of the international investigator initiated SCOT Trial In collaboration with the Country Coordinating Site at Sjællands Universitetshospital, Klinisk Onkologisk Afdeling og Palliative Enheder. With the result showing that the SCOT Trial met its primary endpoint showing that 3 months adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer is non-inferior to 6 months treatment in the total overall population. Based on these results and the results from similar trials, the international guidelines for the treatment of these patients have now been changed. Furthermore, in this clinical trial blood and tissue samples from more than 300 patients enrolled at the Danish sites have been collected in collaboration with the Danish Cancer Biobank (DCB) at Herlev Universitetshospital. These samples together with the other ones collected from more than 6000 patients enrolled in SCOT Trial are now stored for future research, mainly at the universities in Oxford and in Glasgow. With that many patients enrolled in Denmark, and with our well-established infrastructure around Danish Cancer Biobank we have got two seats in the Sample Access Committee and one seat in the Biorepository Management Group and thus obtained a great opportunity to be at the leading edge of translational research within the cancer area. Thus, we are now waiting to see future research and clinical trials based on these many samples from the SCOT Trial to create new knowledge for the treatment of cancer diseases.
